Blessed Pentecost!

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting... Acts 2.1-4

The time between Easter and Pentecost represents an important and prophetic period in the formation of the early church. In the Jewish religious tradition they were told to count the days from Passover/Easter (Leviticus 23: 15-16) and after 49 days hold another festival, the Feast of First Fruits. It was during this celebration on the 50th day (Pentecost) that the Holy Spirit was poured out, giving birth to the church and empowering the disciples of Jesus for witness and service.

Sunday 4th June many churches will traditionally celebrate Pentecost. I pray that this will not just be a marker on the religious calendar but that people everywhere will experience the blessedness of the Holy Spirit in demonstration and power. May our sons and daughters prophesy, our young men see visions, our old men dream dreams. May we all renewed in the spirit of prophecy tell forth with great boldness the gospel of Christ.
